Poplar wedding 31 August

Would anyone like to ring for a wedding at Poplar with me Sat 31 August? Tony Faulkner needs one more and I said I’d ask around. 2pm meet. I am afraid I don’t know how much they pay.

Thank you!

West Ham needs help

Good morning Docklands Ringers,

West Ham is in need of 2 more ringers for a wedding 20 July, 12:40 meet for a 1pm wedding, ringing in and out. £20 per rope. Stepney has a wedding later that afternoon, so it’s just possible (I think, if the West Ham bride’s on time) to do both.

If you can help please contact Liz Rayner:   lizrayner@btinternet.com

Thank you!

London Marathon 2013

We took the Charmborough Ring to the Marathon again this year. Chris Giddins was organiser and secured us a great new pitch just past the 16-mile mark. The weather was gorgeous and lots of ringers turned out. We rang a few quarter peals, gave a few members of the public a go and handed out some leaflets. We featured for 10 seconds in the BBC’s coverage of the elite men

Charmborough Frame visible on the right. That’s Alison standing next to the curb cheering on the Elite Men.

Thanks to Ed for this video. If anyone took photos of the ring at this event, we can add them to this post and also the Charmborough Trust is looking for photos for its website.

Saturday’s Simulator Surgeries

Last chance to sign up for the Training Committee’s next events: two simulator surgeries this coming Saturday 13 April. The morning session (10-1pm) will be held at Rotherhithe: please contact Andrew Clark if you’d like to book in for that session. The afternoon session (1-4pm) will be held at Stepney: please contact Elizabeth LeMoine if you’d like to book in for that session.

Working with the simulator is excellent for developing listening skills and it can be used for ringers at any level, from ringing in rounds, leading or covering accurately to learning plain hunt or a method on any number of bells – without an audience! Try it. Everyone can benefit from improving their listening and striking.
